Gloucester have named academy manager Andrew Stanley as their new forwards coach with immediate effect.

Stanley will take over from Carl Hogg, who was recently named as new Head Coach at Worcester Warriors.

The 49-year-old is a qualified RFU Level 5 coach and played almost 200 first team games for Gloucester before he retired in 1998.

Stanley had a spell as academy manager with Worcester in 2005 before returning to Kingsholm in the same role a year ago and Cherry and Whites head coach Nigel Davies was delighted he is taking up a new role.

"Stan has impressed everyone at the club over the past 12 months with his rugby knowledge and also his strong work ethic. He very quickly earned everyone's respect when he joined us last summer," Davies told Gloucester's official website.

"He's Gloucester Rugby through and through, totally buys into what we're trying to achieve and is completely committed to doing what's best for the club.

"He's challenging himself and moving from what some might say is a slightly safer role.

"But he's more than qualified to take on this new position, I know he's excited about it and I'm confident that he's going to be a great success."
