Freddie Burns: Has led Gloucester to some promising early-season victories
Gloucester fly-half Freddie Burns has been named the Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for October.
The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for the Cherry-and-Whites and many feel he should have already been handed an England start by head coach Stuart Lancaster.
Panel Chairman Paul Morgan said: "Some of the best young players in England are at Gloucester Rugby at the moment and Freddie is one of the shining lights.
"He was in exceptional form in October in Aviva Premiership Rugby, ensuring he forced his way into the England set-up."
Burns, who also won the award in February, added: "I feel a huge sense of pride at winning this award for the second time.
"Receiving plaudits for my own personal performances is great, but I must do the same for my team mates who enable me to showcase my game with their tireless hard work, week in, week out.
"Aviva have given me £500 to donate to the charity of my choice - and I have selected for it to go to one of Alex Brown's testimonial charities, Restart.
"With an increasing number of players suffering career-ending injuries, it's great to be able to make a contribution to such a worthy cause."
Gloucester have made a solid start to the season - securing five victories in their first eight games and currently lying in fourth place.
