Worcester Warriors have signed South African prop Nick Schonert from Super Rugby side Cheetahs for next season.
Schonert was part of South Africa's IRB Junior World Championship side in 2011, and has established a reputation as a strong operator at the set-piece.
He played for Kwazulu-Natal as a youngster before representing the Sharks at Under 19 and Under 21 levels and featured in the Currie Cup for GWK Griquas.
"I was so excited when I got the call from my agent informing me that Worcester were showing a lot of interest in me," said Schonert.
"After Dean Ryan flew over to meet me and explained the vision for the future, I knew I was going be a part of something special.
"I'm very excited about my future at Worcester."
The Warriors are bottom of the Aviva Premiership with just one league win to their name this season, although they still have an outside chance of avoiding relegation.
Warriors director of rugby Dean Ryan is looking to rebuild his squad after a dismal 2013-14 season.
"I am delighted that Nick has decided to move to Warriors," said Ryan.
"He is aware of our long-term focus and is committed to being part of our journey.
"Nick is the sort of player who will add to this club and he has the potential to be an outstanding Premiership player so we are looking forward to welcoming him to Sixways."
