Worcester have confirmed that Carl Hogg is leaving Gloucester to become head coach at Sixways.

The ex-Scotland international has spent the last seven years with the Cherry and Whites as forwards' coach and will now take up a new role with Worcester.

Hogg rejoins former Gloucester boss Dean Ryan who was recently named as the Warriors' new director of rugby following the departure of Richard Hill.

"It is vital we build a strong coaching team and reputation here at Warriors and so I'm delighted to be able to reunite my relationship with Carl."

Ryan said in a statement: "It is vital we build a strong coaching team and reputation here at Warriors and so I'm delighted to be able to reunite my relationship with Carl.

"We spent several seasons working closely together at Kingsholm and Carl has played an important and influential role in all that Gloucester has achieved in recent years.

Expertise

"He brings a level of expertise and detail which will enhance Worcester Warriors and all that we do going forward."

Worcester have paid compensation to Gloucester in order to get their man, as Hogg still had one year remaining on his contract at Kingsholm.

The 43-year-old won five caps for his country during his playing career before moving into coaching following his retirement in 2003.

Hogg said: "I have been presented with an exciting opportunity to move forward in my coaching career as head coach at Worcester.

"It is a fantastic new challenge and I look forward to the season ahead at

Sixways and, of course, the local derbies between Worcester and Gloucester."
