Ollie Lindsay-Hague believes his time on the Sevens circuit has helped him become a better player.
The 22-year-old full-back is enjoying his best run at Harlequins since joining the academy in 2009, with his form earning him the Gatorade Game Charger Award for January.
This season Lindsay-Hague has made eight appearances for the Quins, helped the second string claim the Aviva Premiership A title with a man-of-the-match display and been rewarded with a new contract.
Prior to this campaign, though, Lindsay-Hague made just eight appearances over the course of three years.
During that time he had loan spells at Rosslyn Park and Esher, but it was with the England Sevens side that he excelled.
He racked up 19 tries in 11 HSBC Sevens World Series events, including two in the victory over Samoa in the 2010 final in Dubai.
However Lindsay-Hague is now determined to make his name playing for Quins.
"I think doing a lot of Sevens helped me and it was a good starting point for my career," Lindsay-Hague told Sky Sports.
"I was young and not playing at Harlequins so by playing Sevens I was able to gain good experience.
"To play in these tournaments in front of big crowds was an invaluable experience.
"I still like Sevens but it is in 15s that I want to be known for."
Lindsay-Hague is certainly heading in the right direction, with the Londoner taking advantage of Mike Brown's involvement with England during the RBS Six Nations.
And having put his injury-hit 2011/12 campaign behind him, Lindsay-Hague - who can also play on the wing and at scrum-half - is ready to now kick on.
"I started at the academy three years ago but I have been playing more now as Browny has been away with England," he said.
"It has been going well and I have been in good form.
"It was a bad year last year for me as I was always getting injured but I was able to have a good pre-season. From that I have been able to get more game time and playing well."
