Jim Mallinder: Prepared for Northampton's crunch clash with Gloucester this Saturday
Northampton Saints will be taking their LV= Cup match this Saturday with Gloucester very seriously, according to director of rugby Jim Mallinder.
The Saints are currently top of Pool 4 and a win at Franklin's Gardens could cement them a place in the semi-finals, if other results go their way.
Mallinder told the club's official website: "We are well placed in the LV=Cup after our first two matches and want to kick on when the competition resumes this weekend.
"It is going to be a big game against Gloucester. They are still well in touch in Pool 1 and won the competition in 2011, so they know what it takes to succeed in the LV= Cup.
"For our part we are taking the game very seriously and will be doing everything that we can to win."
The last time the sides met in the competition was a thriller in the 2010 final, with the Saints grabbing the win.
Northampton's last two results in the competition saw them beat the Dragons, after losing to Harlequins the week before. Gloucester have a similar record after losing to the Ospreys and claiming a victory against London Welsh.
