Saints swoop to sign Everitt

London Irish fly-half Barry Everitt has agreed to join Northampton next season.

Northampton Saints have announced that they have secured the services of fly-half Barry Everitt from London Irish for next season.

The 30-year-old number ten is one of the most prolific kickers in Guinness Premiership history, and has now decided to leave The Exiles to join rivals Northampton.

Everitt will see out the current season at The Madejski Stadium before switching to Franklins Gardens for next year after agreeing on a three-year deal with Saints.

"This is quite a commitment for me, as it will probably be my last long-term contract," said Everitt.

"I look forward to the challenge ahead and being part of something special as Saints move forward."

Saints head coach Paul Grayson was delighted with the deal and says that Everitt's experience will be a great addition to his squad - although he brings a lot more to the table than just his superb kicking game.

"Barry is a proven performer over a number of years," said Grayson. "And he has great experience in the Premiership.

"His kicking game obviously stands out as exceptional.

"However, he is a very capable footballer and distributor, and there is a lot more he has to offer."
