Martin Castrogiovanni will lead Italy into Saturday's Six Nations game against Wales in the absence of Sergio Parisse.

The Leicester prop, who wins his 94th cap in Rome, takes over as captain after Parisse was banned for 30 days for insulting a referee while playing for Stade Francais.

Manoa Vosawai replaces Parisse at No 8 in one of four changes to the side beaten in Scotland in the last round of games.

Coach Jacques Brunel completely revamps his half-back pairing, bringing in Kristopher Burton and Edoardo Gori for Luciano Orquera and Tobias Botes.

And there is a change in the second row, where Antonio Pavanello replaces Quintin Geldenhuys and becomes the sixth Treviso forward to join the pack.

Italy, who beat Wales in Rome in 2003 and 2007, have one win and one defeat from their two games this year.

Italy: Masi, Venditti, Benvenuti, Canale, McLean, Burton, Gori, Lo Cicero, Ghiraldini, Castrogiovanni, Pavanello, Minto, Zanni, Favaro, Vosawai.

Replacements: Giazzon, De Marchi, Cittadini, Geldenhuys, Derbyshire, Botes, Orquera, Garcia.
