Wales and British and Irish Lions centre Jamie Roberts has graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in medicine.

The 26-year-old, who was a member of the Welsh side that won this year's Six Nations and also a part of the Lions side that sealed a series win over Australia earlier this month, has spent the last eight years juggling his medical studies with his rugby career.

He extended the final two years of his degree to four years for the benefit of his rugby career and had to take two exams in the week leading up to the Six Nations decider against England.

"It's been very hard but worth every minute of it," Roberts told Sky Sports.

"It was finals this year in that England week. I had two exams and it was hell. I flew over from Murrayfield after the game on my own to get some revision in before.

"But I'll look back on it with very fond memories because ultimately I've succeeded with both."

Roberts will start a new chapter in his rugby career next season when he joins Racing Metro in Paris, who also have fellow Lions Jonathan Sexton and Dan Lydiate on their books.

"Ultimately you want to win trophies and I'm moving to a club that can do that," added Roberts. "It will be good to have those guys (Sexton and Lydiate) alongside me."
