Olly Kohn may be set for a Wales debut
Uncapped Harlequins lock Olly Kohn has been called into the Wales squad for the RBS 6 Nations following a spate of injuries to other second row candidates.
Alun-Wyn Jones, Luke Charteris, Bradley Davies and Ian Evans are all currently on the sidelines due to injury and so interim head coach Rob Howley has turned to the Bristol-born Kohn.
The 31-year-old forward qualifies for Wales through his grandfather, who is from the Rhymney Valley.
Kohn has made more than 130 appearances for Quins since joining the Premiership champions in 2006 and now joins fellow uncapped locks James King and Andrew Coombs in the Wales squad.
He will join the squad on Sunday evening ahead of their opening 6 Nations clash, against Ireland in Cardiff on the following Saturday.
Howley said: "We looked at Olly when we initially selected the Six Nations squad and we have brought him in now, as we believe he will be an experienced addition.
"He has been performing very well for Quins and has been a feature in their pack.
"He is a strong ball-carrier and dominant at the set-piece, and it will be good to see him in the international environment."
Howley is due to announce his team for the Ireland game next Thursday and Jones, Charteris and Davies will be unavailable, while Evans is battling a knee injury.
Former captain Ryan Jones could be moved forward from his usual berth in the back row but is himself recovering from a dislocated thumb.
