Paul O'Connell: Munster forward will see a specialist about his back injury
Paul O'Connell will miss Ireland's clash with South Africa after a back injury ruled him out of their opening match of the autumn.
The Munster forward looked to be winning his fitness battle when he took part in training sessions with the rest of the squad on Monday and Tuesday.
However, O'Connell has since suffered a reaction and will see a specialist in the coming days to have the problem assessed.
"Paul returned to training at the start of this week and took a full part in the squad sessions on Monday and Tuesday," read a statement released by the Irish Rugby Football Union.
"However, he suffered a reaction and will not be fit for selection for this weekend's game.
"Paul will see a specialist in the coming days and an update will be issued in due course."
