Scotland flanker Alasdair Strokosch will be out for around four weeks after it was confirmed he suffered a fractured a bone near his eye against England.
Strokosch was forced off after just 13 minutes of his country's RBS Six Nations opener at Twickenham, which ended in a 38-18 defeat for the visitors.
It was initially feared he would miss the rest of the competition, but if Stokosch's recovery goes to schedule he could be back for the last two matches against Wales and France.
"Alasdair was seen by a specialist at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital this week and the injury was diagnosed as a fracture of the orbital floor (the area around the eye)," Scotland team doctor James Robson said.
"Alasdair is returning to his club in France (Perpignan) and will be in their care. If he has no complications he should be available to return to action in four weeks' time."
