Tongan flanker Viliami Vaki will face a disciplinary tribunal after his off-the-ball challenge left Scotland's Chirs Cusiter with a disloctaed left shoulder and torn ligaments.
Cusiter was stretchered off after being floored by Vaki during last weekend's victory over the Pacific Islands at Murrayfield and, after undergoing surgery, faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Vaki, who plays his club rugby in France for Perpignan, is set for a long ban if found guilty.
"The Pacific Islands number six Viliami Vaki was cited by the match commissioner following an incident during the match against Scotland in Edinburgh," said a Six Nations spokesman.
"Vaki has been charged with a breach of the law which covers dangerous tackling.
"Vaki's case will be dealt with by an independent disciplinary panel within the next few days."
