England players Freddie Burns and Kyle Eastmond are up for the challenge ahead in Saturday's first Test against New Zealand in Auckland.

Burns will line up at fly-half, having been given the nod ahead of Danny Cipriani and, with Billy Twelvetrees injured, Eastmond will start at inside-centre.

Burns has been out of form for club Gloucester this season but is looking to bounce back in Saturday's clash, which is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 8am.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s no secret it was a bit of a tough season for myself.

Looking forward

“But since arriving in camp two weeks ago, I’ve just put that behind me and this is all about looking forward now and being an England player and putting that season behind me.

“I’ve trained well, I’m in confident form and I’m really looking forward to the weekend.”

Bath ace Eastmond is also up for the challenge, particularly in defence.

“Defence is an attitude thing you know – if you want to get up there, you want to make tackles, then you probably will.

“So, like I say, we’ve got massive respect for the opposition, they’re great players, but we’ve got to get up there and defend our line.”
