Leicester star Mat Tait has been ruled out of England Saxons' clash with Ireland Wolfhounds because of injury.
Tait was just five matches in to his latest comeback for Leicester following ankle surgery in the summer.
He reportedly suffered a back injury during Leicester's Heineken Cup defeat to Ulster on Saturday.
Sale full-back Rob Miller will replace Tait for the Saxons, who have also lost Leicester lock Graham Kitchener.
Gloucester's 20-year-old lock Elliott Stooke comes into the squad.
Harlequins' Matt Hopper replaces Bath's Jonathan Joseph and Northampton Saints prop Tom Mercey takes over from Harlequins' Will Collier as England count the cost of round six of Heineken Cup pool action.
Leicester wing Miles Benjamin and flanker Jamie Gibson will be assessed at the end of the week.
Saxons bosses hope to have the pair available for the Glasgow trip to face Scotland A on January 31.
Tait has won 38 England caps in total since his 2004 debut as a callow teenager against Wales, where Gavin Henson famously dumped him on his backside.
He has made just 32 Leicester appearances since his 2011 switch from home club Newcastle, with a succession of injuries taking their toll.
