Tom Mitchell will return to the England set-up for the penultimate leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Glasgow.

Mitchell has been sidelined for five months after breaking an ankle in Dubai last November.

However the 23-year-old will replace Richard De Carpentier in the only change to the squad.

"Tom's been a very bright light for us since making his debut last season and was in that starting side against New Zealand in last year's Glasgow final so it's good to have him back," said head coach Ben Ryan.

"We've probably had more players to pick from than we've had all season and it's good to have guys returning even though there are still a handful more on their way back.

"Over the last month we've trained hard and worked hard with some really tough sessions. We've got a very committed group of players and we're looking forward to getting back out on the field and making it count.

"We thoroughly enjoy going up to Scotland and had a good tournament in Glasgow in 2012 when we played some of the best stuff of the season in the run to the final with wins over South Africa and Fiji on the way, and it's good to have a short flight up there rather than going half way round the world."

England kick off their challenge in Glasgow against New Zealand before clashes with hosts Scotland and Portugal.

England Sevens: John Brake, Sam Edgerley, Mike Ellery, Christian Lewis-Pratt, Tom Mitchell, Dan Norton, Tom Powell, James Rodwell, Mathew Turner, Rob Vickerman (captain), Marcus Watson, Jeff Williams
