England fly-half Owen Farrell played down his kicking heroics after the momentous 12-6 Six Nations win over Ireland in a sodden Dublin.

The Saracens star booted all his side's points and kicked solidly out of hand to help Stuart Lancaster's side go clear at the top of the table.

Farrell, 21, said: "If you practice enough, it's only another kick. You've kicked hundreds of them so it's no different when you're in a stadium.

"It was massive. I was unbelievably excited to come over here and get stuck into this game. The conditions weren't great but we rolled our sleeves up and got stuck in."

"The weather wasn't great. It's the little things that help you along. It was a brutal game and all credit to the lads because they just got stuck in."

Errors

Next up for England is the under-fire French, who will arrive at Twickenham for the February 23 on the back of consecutive defeats to Italy away and Wales at home.

Ireland captain Jamie Heaslip was understandably less happy in the aftermath, adding: "I don't want to blame the conditions because both teams played in them. There were a lot of knock-ons and unforced errors. I don't know what caused all the errors.

"It was frustrating and we constantly tried to regroup and go again. England played a good pressure game. There were a lot of sore guys in the changing room, particularly because of the hits they took but also because they lost in a green jersey at home."
