Fear factor won't faze Faz

Andy Farrell is relishing the 'frightening' prospect of making his England debut.

Former Great Britain rugby league skipper Andy Farrell is relishing the 'frightening' prospect of making his England debut in the Six Nations.

Farrell has endured an injury-plagued 18 months since switching from the 13-man code but has begun to impress at centre for Saracens.

He has been named in England's Six Nations squad and played a starring role in Sarries' victory over Narbonne in front of the watching England head coach Brian Ashton last week.

"Over the last six weeks or so I'm not fighting my insticts any more," Farrell told Sky Sports News. "Things are coming very naturally to me, obviously I'm progressing all the time and enjoying myself."

Now Farrell - a former rugby league World Player of the Year - is keen to make the step up to international level.

"I am very chuffed to actually get selected for the squad but it is one thing to get selected, it's another thing to play and play well," he added.

"It is not just a matter of going out there and pulling the England shirt on. Hopefully it is a matter of doing well for your country, so that's a goal of mine."

When he does get the call, Farrell is expecting to be nervous - frightened, even; "I get nervous every week to be honest, that is how I have always played rugby.

"It is always a frightening feeling for me, waking up in the morning and knowing that I am going to be playing rugby - frightening but yet exciting. That is what always brings the best out of me and it will be no different at Twickenham, I'm sure."
