Richie McCaw: Back in the gym this week
New Zealand are hopeful skipper Richie McCaw will be fit for what could be the Rugby Championship decider against South Africa.
McCaw suffered a knee injury against Argentina on September 7 and he will miss this weekend's match in Argentina.
But McCaw was able to train in the gym on Monday and he could well be ready to take part in what is widely expected to be the winner-takes-all match in Cape Town.
The Kiwis beat South Africa 27-15 in Auckland to remain unbeaten in the tournament so far. The All Blacks are hot favourites to win again against Argentina on Saturday, whilst the Springboks should beat Australia this weekend.
All Blacks assistant coach Ian Foster said: "Richie is progressing a little bit quicker than we expected which is why he's here. There's a bit more ground to cover. This week is important for him to carry on that progress. The signs are really positive. He's certainly in a good space.
"Having a positive attitude towards your rehab is vital but that's something shared by all our boys. He's done everything right and I know he's very determined to come back and contribute on the park. That's certainly helped things."
