Francois Steyn: South Africa centre to undergo ankle operation
Francois Steyn requires surgery on his right ankle and will miss South Africa's final game of the Rugby Championship against New Zealand.
The Springboks are also waiting on the fitness of flanker Jacques Potgieter (abdominal strain) and prop Coenie Oosthuizen (neck) for the match in Johannesburg on October 6
In addition, South Africa have four other players with "bumps and bruises," including fly-half Johan Goosen, who made his first start in the 31-8 win over Australia on September 29.
Goosen has a heel injury and missed training on Monday alongside full-back Zane Kirchner, flanker Willem Alberts and prop Jannie du Plessis.
Bulls loose forward Arno Botha and Lions centre Lionel Mapoe, both uncapped, have been called up.
New Zealand have already clinched the inaugural edition of the four-nation tournament ahead of the final round.
