Western Force have moved quickly to replace Josh Valentine by completing the signing of Waratahs scrum-half Brett Sheehan.

First-choice number nine Valentine will join the Brumbies next season and Force will be hoping Sheehan, 29, can fill the void after finding first-team opportunities limited with 'Tahs.

Sheehan failed to oust Luke Burgess from the No.9 shirt at NSW, and he admits a move will improve his chances of adding to the three Test caps he has won for Australia.

"It's a very tough decision, weighing up a lot of options, but at the end it seemed like the right choice from a football point of view," he said.

"I still feel like I am a starting half-back. I think I have an opportunity to do that at the Force. It will be hard leaving NSW. I have played with the likes of Phil Waugh since I was thirteen and I have some great mates here.

"[But] Luke Burgess is the future of this club, and I am open to a new experience and looking forward to that challenge."
