Ben Youngs admits England will have to raise their game if they are to topple Wales in the RBS Six Nations on Saturday.

England go into the encounter on the back of away wins over Scotland and Italy - but while the new-look team have been praised for their defensive displays under interim boss Stuart Lancaster, they have been criticised for a lack of cutting edge in attack.

So far they have mustered just two tries, with both coming via Charlie Hodgson chargedowns.

Wales, on the other hand, have impressed with their flair and invention in wins over Ireland and Scotland - with Warren Gatland's squad picking up from where they left off with their fourth-placed finish at the World Cup.

And scrum-half Youngs knows England have to step up to the challenge posed by Sam Warburton and Co at Twickenham.

"We've worked hard on addressing the areas that have needed improving, in particular in attack and the keeping up the tempo throughout the game," Youngs told Sky Sports.

Expansive

"We will continue to work hard over the coming days and we are fully looking forward to facing an in-form team at Twickenham.

"No disrespect to Italy or Scotland but they both play a similar style. They work hard at the breakdown in slowing the ball down and keeping it tight.

"Wales, though, like to play an open, expansive game and I think that will suit us.

"We've talked a lot about how we can up our own game and everyone is fully aware of the task ahead.

"We know our performances so far are not of the calibre that will beat Wales.

"They've got Jamie Roberts, George North if fit, Mike Phillips and Sam Warburton who is a menace at the breakdown and great at turning over possession.

"They've a lot of quality guys who can punish you so we will have to really treasure the ball and use it wisely."
