London Welsh have signed former England lock Dean Schofield for next season.

The 35-year-old second row joins the Exiles from Worcester and will bolster their pack following a return to the Premiership.

"Dean is a big man with a wealth of experience from a technical and tactical aspect of the game, which is very important for us," London Welsh head coach Justin Burnell said.

Schofield spent the majority of his playing career with Sale Sharks, with whom he won the Premiership title in 2006 and made 162 appearances.

He went on to play in France with Toulon before returning to England with the Warriors.

Schofield won two England caps on the 2007 tour of South Africa and becomes the Exiles' 19th new signing.
