Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder has expressed his admiration for an Exeter side whose success he believes is founded on pride and hard work.
The Chiefs have surpassed all expectations since winning promotion to the Aviva Premiership two years ago and their third season in the top flight will include featuring in the illustrious Heineken Cup.
They have failed to win on three previous visits to Franklin's Gardens, but Mallinder knows that in Sunday's match Exeter show little respect for reputation or pedigree.
"They have no real superstars in terms of signings, but they do play for each other and the shirt."
Mallinder on Exeter Quotes of the week
"I expect to see a very well-coached, disciplined side," he commented.
Commitment
"They have no real superstars in terms of signings, but they do play for each other and the shirt.
"They know exactly what they're doing and it's no surprise they turned Sale over last weekend.
"They've won away at big grounds before so they won't see Franklin's Gardens as a threat."
Northampton will go into battle with the same starting XV that secured a fine 24-19 victory at Gloucester last Saturday.
"It's vital that we get off to a good start at home," he added.
"At Gloucester we got a good away win and now we have to build on that."
