London Irish have bolstered their front-row options with the signing of teenage prop Richard Palframan.
The 18-year-old tight-head joins arrives from Super Rugby's Sharks, where he featured in all five of the U19 side's matches this season.
Exiles director of rugby Brian Smith believes the Aviva Premership club have signed a player of some potential.
"He is an outstanding prospect," said Smith. He is a very physical player and exceptionally good with ball in hand.
"He will work with (forwards coach) Glenn Delaney to enhance his all round game and continue his progression. We believe we have real gem on our hands."
Palframan, who attended Rondebosch Boys' High School, said: "I am very grateful to the Sharks for the opportunities they have given me, but the chance to join London Irish was too good to deny."
