Luke Wallace: Bath struggled to contain back row
Nick Easter praised the emergence of Luke Wallace as Harlequins booked their place in the LV= Cup final.
The London-based outfit remain on course for the treble after their 31-23 semi-final win over Bath on Saturday and the strength of their squad looks set to be tested to the limit as their season reaches its climax.
Easter watched the game from the Sky Sports studio and said he was impressed by 22-year-old back row Wallace, whose fine display was marked with an excellent offload for Tom Williams to score.
"When some guys were away at the World Cup last year, he was winning man of the match awards for fun at the beginning of last season," Easter said.
"He's had to wait his turn a little bit more this year with the back rows that are around at the club, but he's put a run of games together in the last few Premiership and LV.
"He's got something about him and his offload showed athletic and skilful ability. It's all about 'Dexy's Midnight Runners' - dexterity - with the hands.
"It was a good little blind pass that probably put a little bit of doubt in Tom Heathcote's defence and he rode the tackle well.
"It's risk versus reward, I suppose, when you're in that area of the pitch."
Luke Wallace is one of 10 players nominated for the LV=Cup Breakthrough Player Award for 2013. The list of contenders is as follows:
Jack Nowell (Exeter)
