Connacht hooker Jason Harris-Wright will miss at least six months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the win over Zebre.

Harris-Wright had to be replaced on the half-hour mark during last weekend's PRO12 clash after going down at the Sportsground with a knee injury.

Results of an MRI scan were made available on Wednesday and the news was just about as bad as it could be for the 26-year-old, who will need surgery and almost certainly miss the rest of the season.

"I am so disappointed for Jason because he has just come off a long-term injury," said Connacht head coach Pat Lam on the Irish province's website.

"He had got himself into great shape and was playing really well, hence the reason he started last week. It is terrible news for him.

"But from talking with Jason he knows that he has the best strength, conditioning and medical team to get him back into the right frame over the coming months. He'll still be very much part of the team once he begins his rehab."
