Head coach Stuart Lancaster says the presence of innovative attack coach Brian Ashton at England's preparation camp this week does not mean his team will change their tactics.

Former Bath, England and Ireland head coach Ashton was invited to the base in Surrey on Monday and Tuesday so Lancaster and his coaching team could benefit from his experience.

But the current England boss says he is not looking towards Ashton to overhaul his side’s offensive attitude.

"I don't want to create something that's not there. It's for me to sit down and chat. Different ideas, different perspective,” Lancaster said.

"He's developed a lot of players, but actually he's developed a lot of coaches. He's somebody I've always stayed in contact with.

"He's a very creative attacking coach (but) we're not going to change anything we're not already doing.

"I think the way in which we try and play the game will remain the same."

England open their autumn campaign with a clash against reigning world champions New Zealand at Twickenham on November 8.

Lancaster added: "In terms of our attacking mindset, I think we've always had a strong one. We need to beat New Zealand by scoring tries as well as kicking points."
