Uncapped hooker Nathan Harris looks set to make his New Zealand debut after he was called up for the final two matches of the Rugby Championship.

Harris, who plays for the Chiefs, joins Dane Coles and Keven Mealamu in vying for the No 2 jersey for the matches in Argentina (September 27) and South Africa (October 4).

However Coles is set to miss the South Africa game due to the birth of his first child, opening the door for Harris to make his mark.

Coach Steve Hansen has also called up Ryan Crotty to the 31-man squad, although the utility back has been ruled out of the clash against the Pumas as he has only recovered from a broken cheekbone.

And with Ma’a Nonu ruled out after breaking his arm against the Springboks in Wellington, Conrad Smith and Malakai Fekitoa are likely to start in the centres against Argentina, however Ben Smith and Charles Piutau could fill in.

Sam Whitelock, Jerome Kaino and Liam Messam have all been passed fit after recent injuries but Dan Carter, Patrick Tuipulotu and Dominic Bird are omitted as their recoveries to full fitness are managed.
