Prop David Wilson is determined to end a long season on a high by helping England win the third and final Test of the series against New Zealand.
Stuart Lancaster’s side have suffered two close losses so far to the All Blacks, going down 20-15 in the opening Test in Auckland after Conrad Smith clinched victory with a late, late try.
The second match saw them beaten by the slenderest of margins, the return of England’s Premiership finalists not being enough to see them hang on to a 10-6 half-time lead in Dunedin.
Bath front-rower Wilson insists the tourists are desperate to make sure they do not suffer a sweep at the hands of the reigning world champions when the teams meet again in Waikato, live on Sky Sports.
“I’ve been playing rugby for a little while now and there is nothing worse than bowing out on a season with a loss, especially when you’ve had the chance to beat New Zealand like we have in the last two games,” he told Sky Sports.
“We are coming into this last game and all the boys are going to put everything into it. That is all we are focusing on.
“We don’t want to leave here with a 3-0 loss, when we feel we could have got more out of it had a few other things gone our way or had we done a few things slightly different.
“We’re massively behind hopefully getting a win and performing well this weekend
“We’re not going to let it slip.”
Wilson has started both Tests at tighthead for England, alongside fellow prop Joe Marler and hooker Rob Webber.
Lancaster will certainly make at least one change to his line-up, with fly-half Owen Farrell ruled out with a knee injury. Danny Care, who started alongside Farrell last Saturday, is also a major doubt.
