Chairman Gordon McKie has left Sale Sharks after just five months at the Aviva Premiership club.

The former Scottish Rugby chief executive joined the club in January.

Sale Sharks co-owner Ian Blackhurst said: "Gordon has made a significant and invaluable contribution to Sale Sharks in a relatively short period of time, and we thank him for his efforts.

"We appreciate the time and commitment that he has given alongside his other business interests.

"The club has just concluded a successful season and we are well positioned to look forward to next season and beyond with confidence."

Sale finished sixth in the Premiership in a much-improved campaign, qualifying for next season's European Rugby Champions Cup.
