Newcastle Falcons prop Kieran Brookes has been handed a six week suspension for pushing a referee.

Brookes was cited for "physical abuse of a match official" during Newcastle's defeat to Leicester Tigers at Kingston Park on Sunday.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to "acts contrary to good sportsmanship" at an RFU disciplinary panel in Leeds.

His ban runs until April 20, meaning he will free to return for the Falcons final two Aviva Premier League matches against London Wasps and Exeter Chiefs.

The Falcons are second-bottom of the standings, 11 points above Worcester and 10 behind London Irish immediately above them.
