London Irish prop CJ van der Linde could be out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a pectoral injury.

The 33-year-old, a World Cup-winner with South Africa, has played just once since his arrival at Irish in December because of persistent calf problems.

Now he has damaged a muscle in his chest, and has returned to South Africa to continue rehabilitation.

Van der Linde only signed a deal until the end of the campaign, as an injury-dispensation recruit after Irish lost Tonga prop Halani Aulika for the season.
