Olly Barkley: Leaving Grenoble with immediate effect
Former England star Olly Barkley has left Top 14 club Grenoble with immediate effect.
Both parties agree the move did work out, and the fly-half or centre is likely now to move back to England.
Barkley, 32, told Grenoble officials last week that he wanted to leave, despite having a contract that ran until 2015.
"Olly Barkley is no longer part of the squad," a club official confirmed.
"Grenoble weren't able to integrate Olly into their gameplan. It was in his interest and that of the club that we went our separate ways."
Barkley was the best paid player in the Grenoble squad. He joined them from Racing Metro, where he also played very little.
He started just three games for his latest club, playing in five, and he scored just five points.
His last league outing was in the September 13 defeat to Clermont, appearing since then only in European Challenge Cup games.
