South Africa defended their Las Vegas Sevens title with a 14-7 victory over New Zealand.

Branco du Preez and Werner Kok scored tries after Scott Curry had given New Zealand the lead, with the Blitzbokke assuming the lead of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

South Africa, who have now won their last five encounters against the Kiwis, conceded just two tries all weekend - with Kenya the only other side to score against them.

Canada, who had lost to New Zealand in the semi-final, finished third overall after a 22-19 victory against Samoa.

England claimed the Plate title with a 26-24 victory over Australia. Tom Mitchell weighed in with 11 points, while Jeff Williams, Mike Ellery and Marcus Watson all scored.

Fiji had to settle for the Bowl title, while the hosts USA were victorious in the Shield final.
