Sale Sharks have signed former Scotland lock Nathan Hines on a two-year deal from Clermont Auvergne.
Hines, 37, will move to the club at the end of the current season.
He retired from international duty at the end of the 2011 Rugby Union World Cup but remains a fierce competitor in club rugby.
Hines has played for Gala, Edinburgh, Perpignan, Leinster - with whom he won the Heineken Cup in 2010 - and French giants Clermont.
Sale boss Steve Diamond said: "Nathan is a world class player and will fit in well with us at Sale Sharks. He has vast experience playing at the highest level and is a regular starter at Clermont.
"Last weekend he was magnificent in helping his team beat Racing Paris. The forwards at Sale Sharks have played well this season and adding Nathan to the group will be a big boost to us."
Sale have already confirmed that lock James Gaskell will leave the club in the summer - with Wasps believed to be his destination- so Hines is a like-for-like replacement.
