London Irish have signed Edinburgh scrum-half Sean Kennedy on a month-long loan deal.

The Exiles need cover at No 9 because Pat Phibbs and Darren Allinson are currently out injured.

Academy youngster Ed Hoadley, 19, was the back-up to Tomas O'Leary in Saturday's 49-0 win over I Cavalieri Prato in the Amlin Cup.

Kennedy, 23, has only recently returned from a knee injury and Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons says the move will suit both clubs.

Solomons said: "This is an excellent opportunity for Sean to get back up to speed with some game time at an elite level with the view to returning to us in a month's time firing on all cylinders."
