Second row forward Ian Nimmo has signed a loan agreement with London Irish.

Nimmo has moved to the Exiles as cover for George Skivington and Kieran Low and was named on the bench for Saturday's Aviva Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs.

Skivington and Low suffered concussion injuries and the 28-year-old Nimmo arrives at Irish from Newport Gwent Dragons after previously spending time with the Cornish Pirates in the Championship.

Nimmo, an imposing figure at six foot seven inches and close to 19 stone, has been brought in to provide physicality in defence and attack for Brian Smith's men.

He was a former Scotland Under-21 international during his time and was on the books of Leicester Tigers before moving to south Wales.

London Irish director of rugby Smith said: "We are really looking forward to having Ian onboard. He will bring plenty of size and experience to our pack in the short term absence of George and Kieran."
