Steffan Jones: Up to three months out

Newport Gwent Dragons have suffered a double injury blow ahead of the new season with Steffan Jones and Darren Waters both ruled out for months.

Fly-half Jones dislocated his elbow playing for Cross Keys in a pre-season friendly and will miss the first three months of the season.

Flanker Waters ruptured knee ligaments in training and has been ruled out for around five months.

Luckless Waters hurt his knee in a pre-season friendly against London Irish last August and played just twice last season.

"It's a devastating injury for Darren because he was looking really good in pre-season training," said team manager Robert Beale.

"It was such an innocuous injury and it such a disappointment after he suffered such cruel luck last season.

"But Darren is a tough kid and is optimistic that he can make a quick recovery, just like he did last year when his determination meant he came back ahead of schedule."
