Wasps have re-signed Australian centre Ben Jacobs from Western Force as director of rugby Dai Young looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

The 31-year-old spent two years at Adams Park from 2009-2011, making 57 appearances, before moving on to Japanese side Kyuden Voltex and the Force.

But the former Australia A international is back with Wasps - with Jacobs brought in as a direct replacement for Welsh centre Lee Thomas, who was forced to retire because of an Achilles problem.

"Ben's experience will be a big asset for us this season," Young told the club's official website.

"Losing Lee Thomas to retirement was a real disappointment for both ourselves and the players.

"But Ben will come into that midfield mix and do a very good job for us.

"He knows the club inside out and was very keen to come back here, so we're looking forward to him joining up with us again."
