Richie McCaw lasted the full 80 minutes as he returned to rugby following a self-imposed break from the sport.
The New Zealand captain, who had not played since December's defeat to England, turned out for local club Christchurch in a regional victory over University.
And afterwards McCaw hinted he would be prepared to make his Crusaders return when the Super Rugby play-offs begin next week.
Asked if he would answer a call from Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder he said: "That's a good question. If that is the case then I don't see it being a problem.
"I'm a bit tired after that run around but it's good to get that under the belt.
"The first half I was a bit rusty but in the second half, I got the feel of the game but did run out of gas a bit."
The Super Rugby final is on August 3, two weeks before the All Blacks begin the defence of their Rugby Championship title against Australia.
