Jamie Roberts could play for the British & Irish Lions in the second Test against Australia on Saturday, head coach Warren Gatland has revealed.

The Wales centre missed the Lions' 23-21 victory over the Wallabies at the Suncorp Stadium on Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

Roberts suffered the injury during the Lions heavy victory over the Waratahs last weekend and had been a doubt for the rest of the tour.

But the centre has responded well to treatment and Gatland is optimistic Roberts could be ready to return for the second Test in Melbourne.

"We don't think Jamie is too far away. He's up and running and is potentially available for next weekend," Gatland said.

The news continues a positive series of medical bulletins that has seen Manu Tuilagi and Tommy Bowe regain fitness for the second Test.

Tuilagi, who has been sidelined with a shoulder problem, starts Tuesday's match against the Melbourne Rebels at outside centre while Tommy Bose has been given a clean bill of health following hand surgery.
