Leicester rugby director Richard Cockerill is to appear before a Rugby Football Union (RFU) disciplinary panel on 1 July over matters relating to the Aviva Premiership final.

Cockerill was charged earlier this month with "conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game" and the RFU has now confirmed the date for his hearing.

He is alleged to have used "obscene and/or inappropriate and/or unprofessional language or behaviour" in a heated exchange with fourth official Stuart Terheege.

Cockerill was angered by what he saw as a late tackle by Courtney Lawes on Toby Flood in the opening period of Leicester's 37-17 victory at Twickenham.

Referee Wayne Barnes penalised Lawes but opted against showing him a yellow card and Flood was forced off with concussion.

Cockeril made his way from the stands to pitchside before demonstrating with Terheege, arguing that the challenge deserved more severe action.

The hearing will take place at the Coventry M6 Holiday Inn hotel and will get underway at 6.30pm.

The panel will be chaired by Antony Davies and will include His Honour Judge Sean Enright and Daniel White.
