Leigh Halfpenny says Tom Croft did not spit at him during Wales' Six Nations victory over England in Cardiff.

Croft was accused on Twitter of spitting in Halfpenny's face as he held the Wales full-back on the ground in the first half of a 30-3 defeat which cost England the Grand Slam.

The Leicester flanker categorically denied committing the offence, and Halfpenny has now backed Croft's version of events.

He wrote on his own Twitter page: "Guys, just to confirm Tom Croft didn't do what's being alleged of him. He's a top bloke and a great player!"

Halfpenny kicked four successful penalties at the Millennium Stadium to help Wales take the title.
