Alain Rolland: Appointed to referee England's opening Six Nations game against Scotland

Former Ireland international Alain Rolland has been named to referee England's Six Nations opener on February 2 at Twickenham.

The appointments, announced by the International Rugby Board on Tuesday, include two games for leading English official Wayne Barnes, who will control Scotland v Ireland at Murrayfield, and Ireland's appointment with Italy in Rome.

France's Jerome Garces has been handed the Ireland v England clash on February 10, with South African Craig Joubert controlling England against France.

Ireland's George Clancy will manage England v Italy and Australia's Steve Walsh is in charge for the Millennium Stadium finale against Wales on March 16.

Two of Wales' five games - against Ireland and Italy - will be officiated by Frenchman Romain Poite.
