England coach Stuart Lancaster admitted he was hugely frustrated by his team's 16-15 defeat to South Africa at Twickenham.

There was controversy at the end, when, with two-and-a-half minutes to go and England four points behind, skipper Chris Robshaw ordered Owen Farrell to kick a penalty for goal rather than the corner.

Farrell nailed the penalty but England quickly ran out of time, leaving many pundits to question Robshaw's decision and whether he over-reacted to criticism of his call last week to kick for touch against Australia rather than go for goals with 20 minutes left.

Lancaster would not be drawn on Robshaw's decision: "I think we need to review all the decisions. We've got to do our best to win the game. What we're going to do is take the frustration out of this game and channel it into the All Blacks game next week.

"You can see the reasons anyone makes any decision. Games are never won or lost on one decision.

"Reflecting on the positives, we were up on last week. We pushed them to the line, and should have got over the line."

England were hugely unlucky with the try they conceded - the only score of the game - and Toby Flood missed two relatively simple kicks at goal.

"All our efforts and endeavours and intensity, and all the bits and pieces we wanted to bring to the game, we brought," added Lancaster.

"It was difficult conditions, there was a lot of kicking - but generally out accuracy at the breakdown, our intent to play, kicking game, set-piece were all good and a step up from last week and not to get the result has left us all disappointed. I've got a very frustrated changing room. "
