Chris Ashton: Available for Australia showdown following suspension

England coach Stuart Lancaster is set to have a major selection dilemma for Saturday's international with Australia at Twickenham.

The main decision will be whether to drop Charlie Sharples - who scored two tries in the 54-12 victory over Fiji - in favour of Chris Ashton, who is available after a domestic suspension.

Sharples' performance was one of the main plusses for Lancaster, the Gloucester flyer transferring his Aviva Premiership form to the international stage.

Lancaster told Sky Sports News: "He did exactly what as a coach you want him to do. He was excellent in every department. It wasn't just his try-scoring but his kick-chase, his work off the ball, communication and defence too and he has created some selection decisions."

Ashton has scored three tries in three Tests against the Wallabies and Lancaster believes he will have a point to prove - if he plays - next weekend.

"Chris was desperately disappointed to miss this game (against Fiji)," Lancaster said.

"He likes scoring tries and, if anything, this will fuel his hunger and desire to get back into the side. It was a tough lesson to learn.

"We're in good shape after the weekend and we've got lads coming back. Chris, Alex Corbesiero and Jonathan Joseph."

The match comes too soon though for Courtney Lawes, who is currently training with the squad.

"Courtney is with us today and will then go back to Northampton and play in te LV=Cup this weekend," Lancaster revealed

Prop Corbesiero has also joined up with a 37-man training squad after proving his fitness following a knee injury in London Irish's LV= Cup victory over Sale, his first appearance of the season.

He could come in for Harlequins' Joe Marler, and his club colleague Joseph should also be available after shaking off an ankle injury that ruled him out of the Fiji match.
