Kyle Traynor: Insists Bristol will bounce back

Scotland prop Kyle Traynor insists Bristol remain hugely confident of their chances despite their opening day defeat to Newcastle.

The Falcons, relegated from Aviva Premiership last season, came out on top 37-20 in a match between the two of the favourites for promotion.

However Traynor believes that Bristol can bounce back when they tackle Doncaster Knights at Castle Park on Friday.

"We've put the defeat to Newcastle behind us," Traynor told the club's official site.

"It's always disappointing to lose, especially in front of such fantastic home support but we have to look forward.

"Our injury concerns have been well-documented but I think the guys that came in did really well. They grasped their chance and showed the strength-in-depth that we have in this squad.

"We matched Newcastle in areas and, as the year progresses, we will get stronger. It's still very early days and we're prepared for the long, hard campaign ahead of us.

"One game won't define our season and we have huge confidence in our abilities as a team. There were elements of our performance that we weren't happy with on Sunday but now we have an opportunity to put those right before Doncaster."
