O'Connor: Will join the Rebels

The Rebels have confirmed they have won the race to sign highly-rated Australia back James O'Connor.

Rebels have pipped the Brumbies to the signature of the 21-year-old after Western Force withdrew their offer this week.

O'Connor, who has agreed a two-year deal, is the second high-profile Wallaby back to opt to join the Rebels for next season, following Kurtley Beale.

"James is one of the most promising talents in world rugby and we are delighted that he is joining the Rebels," said Rebels boss Steve Boland.

"James' ambitions are very much in line with ours at the Rebels. We are in the process of building a culture that will help us achieve our goals both on and off the field.

"We don't just want good rugby players, but also individuals who are willing to challenge themselves. Balance in life is an important part of our club."
