Leinster have bolstered their squad for next season with the signings of experienced lock Damian Browne and talented winger Fionn Carr.

Browne, a former Ireland Under-21 international, returns to his homeland on a 12-month deal after stints with Northampton and Brive, having initially come through the ranks at Connacht.

Browne will be joined in Dublin by Magners League Dream Team 2010/11 inductee Carr, who makes the switch on a one-year contract from Connacht.

The 25-year-old previously played for the Leinster academy before going on to score a record 34 tries in 72 appearances for Connacht.

Impression

And Leinster coach Joe Schmidt is delighted by the new additions, saying: "We are delighted to announce the signings of two Irish qualified players in Damian and Fionn and we believe that both players have the potential to make an impression over the coming season.

"I know how enthusiastic both players are about linking up this summer, in Fionn's case his arrival will be a homecoming of sorts as he is a graduate from the Leinster academy."

Leinster have also been buoyed by news star hooker Richardt Strauss, Dominic Ryan, Brendan Macken and Ian Madigan have signed new deals, while John Cooney and Ian McKinley have agreed their first professional contracts.

Schmidt added: "Richardt has been a key performer in the Leinster front row this year and his contract extension is a further boost in addition to other recent contract extensions.

"With the extensions and new contracts for the younger players it is important that we continue to retain our best underage talent from the Leinster academy."
